Expect Difficulties Sharing the Gospel

 Expect Difficulties Sharing the Gospel

Do not think it a strange thing if your Gospel message is met with contempt. As the Scriptures say: A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise (Pro 15:12 KJV).

A scorner will not listen as he refuses to consider his own faults. Instead of listening, he will often seek to punish the reprover. As it is written: He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot (Pro 9:7 KJV).

So why do it? Well, there are at least two reasons. First, so that he doesn’t imagine he is right because he has not been challenged. Second, so that those hearing will not be deceived. The Scriptures say we are to answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit (Pro 26:5 KJV). Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him (Pro 26:12 KJV).

Therefore, the only hope he has is the Gospel--that which he scoffs at. However, Jesus said this to the apostles as He sent them out: And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city (Mar 6:11 KJV).

From this passage, we can deduce that the message needs to be spread indiscriminately.  Also, the message will cut two ways. It will harden some and save others. Our job is to proclaim it.
