God’s Love Declared
Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 1:1-7 NAS95).
Paul was set apart to preach the Gospel of God to the Gentiles. While his specific ministry focused on Gentiles, his letter to the Romans is beneficial to all who would seek to know God, Jew or Gentile.
The Gospel to which Paul refers is not some new thing. In the very beginning, God declared there would be a Savior. Notice: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel (Gen 3:15 NAS95). This is the Gospel in seed form.
How blessed we are to have the Gospel laid open to the eyes of us who see. Jesus Christ is the Savior in whom you must believe. He was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead. All other religions have dead saviors. But our Savior is alive, sitting at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 8:1).
And why did God set Paul on a mission to spread this good news to us? He loves us. [Who] were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:3b-7 NAS95).
Oh, that we would cherish and magnify the grace of God. Tell the world what God has done for you. Use Paul’s letter to show others how they may be saved. Here are some verses in Romans that are often called the "Romans Road to Heaven".
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23 NAS95).
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 6:23 NAS95).
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8 NAS95).
But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED" (Rom 10:8-11 NAS95).
For "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED" (Rom 10:13 NAS95).
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Mat 28:18-20 NAS95).
