For the choir director. A Psalm of David. How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble. The LORD will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. The LORD will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, You restore him to health. As for me, I said, "O LORD, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You" (Psalms 41:1-4 NAS95).
There are many physical calamities the people of God may experience. Attacks, oppression, illness, and other challenges are significant, but none weigh as heavily as a soul burdened by sin. The feeling that God is displeased with you due to sin is indescribable. The only remedy is God’s grace and mercy.
Thankfully, God is merciful and willing to provide grace. For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite. "For I will not contend forever, Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would grow faint before Me, And the breath of those whom I have made (Isaiah 57:15-16 NAS95).
If you have a contrite heart and have confessed your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 NAS95). Therefore, recognise what got you into your condition, but don’t live in a depressed state. As the Psalmist wrote, The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise (Psalm 51:17 NAS95).
God will not leave you in your condition. If you ask God to heal your broken heart, He will. Trust Him.
