Meditation Is the Key to Spiritual Prosperity

The big thing today is misinformation. It is very difficult to find reliable information because the authors of said information are so influenced by ideologies that facts are colored by biases which result in half truths and or outright lies. So, how can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word (Psalms 119:9).

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers (Psalms 1:1-3).

Meditation is the key to spiritual prosperity. If you can learn to meditate on God’s word you will prosper spiritually. The imagery in the verse above is perfect. A tree drinks in the water which the stream provides. The benefit of drinking is fruit and endurance. Spiritual fruit comes from spiritual nourishment. Endurance comes from consistent nourishment.

At this point you might be thinking, “Ok I need to keep up with my reading through the Bible program and I’ll be good.” Unfortunately, reading is only half of the meditation process. The Hebrew word for meditate means to ponder, to consider the implications of the passage in your life. A daily reading, while not without benefit, will not feed your soul sufficiently.

Meditation will expose sin and bring about repentance. Meditation will stir up thankfulness and praise. Meditation will fill the heart with love and fuel the fires of evangelism.

If you want to grow in Christ, meditate on His word. If you want to have an anchor that holds through the storms of life, meditate on His word, because the key to spiritual prosperity is meditation.
