Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).
It is unfortunate that many people view God as a tyrant. I know a woman who said she could never believe in a god that would allow a baby to die. This is a ridiculous position for her to hold in that she also supports abortion. I suspect her real reason for what she said is, she is trying to justify to herself her unwillingness to yield to God’s rule in her life.
However, God is not a tyrant. It is true we don’t understand all of God’s ways, but there is ample proof of God’s love demonstrated in the cross. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). Jesus not only laid down His life for friends, but also for His enemies.
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:6-8).
This erroneous view of God mentioned above is just one manifestation of a depraved mind. The only cure for a depraved mind is faith in Christ. So, don’t get caught up in arguing about abortion or other topics, focus on the Gospel message.
The lost man knows God is real. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:18-20).
Let us pray that God will be merciful, and open the eyes and minds of those around us. Let us pray and not grow weary interceding for our loved ones and acquaintances. For God Himself beckons: Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
