Keep Past Sins Under the Blood

Keep Past Sins Under the Blood

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him (Psalms 103:10-13).

Our enemy wants to render you ineffective. The tools he employs are lies and guilt. Paul calls them flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16b). So, he says, . . . be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-11).

The enemy’s flaming arrows are all extinguished by that piece of armor called faith. Consider this. Jesus was brought a boy with an unclean spirit, which the disciples could not cast out. Before Jesus cast out this demon He told the man, 'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief" (Mark 9:23b-24). Jesus then cast out the demon.

The boy’s father had confidence in Christ’s power and grace. However, seeing the weakness of his own flesh he cries, help my unbelief. This is the mark our enemy aims to strike.

Guard your heart with the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation. Preach the Gospel to yourself when the devil attacks with accusations. Remember Psalms 103:10-13 above. He has removed your sins as far as the east is from the west. For, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:5-7).

Father, help our unbelief; we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
