“My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Psa 62:5-8).
In whatever situation you find yourself, learn to trust in God and not your own strength. That is not to say do nothing. Do what is reasonable and suited for the situation, remembering to honor God. But recognize that the Lord is your refuge.
Times will come when no clear path is obvious. Don’t panic. Panic often leads to further trouble. Instead, wait. Pray to the Lord for a resolution.
Recognize that these trials are often a test of faith. As James tells us, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (Jas 1:2-4). The Lord wants you to grow.
God is not unaware of your situation. He knows how much you can endure. He will give you wisdom if you ask. Again, James instructs, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (Jas 1:5). Might I suggest that wisdom is the wisdom to get through the trial in a way that honors the Father?
So, the next time you find yourself in a difficult situation, let your first instinct be to call upon the Lord.
