God Will Complete His Work

 As much as we would like to live our lives to the glory of God, we often fail to trust Him. So remember that God is at work in us for His glory. “So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:12-13).

Even when we sin, God does not abandon us or His purpose for us. Take Abram, for example. “The LORD appeared to Abram and said, 'To your descendants I will give this land.’ So he built an altar there to the LORD who had appeared to him” (Genesis 12:7). Even while knowing this promise, Abram, fearing the people, lied about Sarai, calling her his sister. He not only lied about Sarai, but also involved her in the deception.

What was Abram thinking? His thoughts were not likely on the promise God made to him. How could God give the land to his descendants if his wife was taken in adultery? Thankfully, God can overcome our mistakes. So, God plagues Pharaoh and rectifies the situation, preserving His plan for Abram.

So, beloved of God, do not despair over your failings. Repent and confess, but know God will complete His work in you. “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).
